Design & Performance Features

Precision-engineered polymer insulators built to IEC specifications.

Salient Features

We at Scenario Powertech Pvt Ltd, make Composite Silicon Insulators through an unmatched edge in reliability and longevity by an imported injection molding machine. We provide insulators with 25mm & 31mm per kV for better desired electrical and mechanical values. This unique design ensures that insulators have least electrical stress and deliver an esteemed long service life by adopting the below our salient category wise features.

SGCI/FORGED hot dip
galvanised end fittings

Alternate shed design gives increased creepage per unit length, satisfactory wet performance and self-cleaning properties

HTV silicone rubber housing directly injected over FRP core rod

The silicon rubber extending inside the metal fitting over the metal fitting gives better sealing to reduce moisture penetration through the triple joint-core-fitting-housing

Epoxy glass core made of ECR grade glass fibres impregnated in hydrolysis resistant epoxy resin system

Increased thickness of the silicone housing near the metal end fitting reduces the impact of electric field.

Components of Polymer Insulator

FRP Core Rod

It is the main load bearing and electrically insulating member. This core is made of Boron free ECR grade glass fiber impregnated in the hydrolysis resistant epoxy resin system thus resistant to electrochemical corrosion normally known as brittle fracture.

Silicon Rubber

It is made of high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicon rubber. FRP core rod is covered by injection of silicon rubber through injection molding machine. It protects the FRP core rod against moisture and impurities.

Sheds

The aerodynamic profile of the sheds comply with the requirement of IEC:60815 and the inclination of the sheds facilitate for good self cleaning property.

Metal Fittings

It is made of casting and En8 steel, both hot dip galvanized are used. The precise process of crimping metal fittings plays an important role to get the ensured high mechanical strength for both static and dynamic load

Components of Polymer Insulator

Dimensions

To suit the interchangeability, the overall length of the insulator has been kept within the range of overall length of tension and suspension insulator strings. The metal end fittings have been designed such a way that it helps to meet the both electrical and mechanical value of the designed polymer insulator.

Creepage Distance

With reference to IEC: 61109, a specific creepage distance of 31mm/kV has been specified for very highly polluted condition. The description of polluted condition for Very High Level as per IEC: 60815 pertains to areas subjected to conductive dusts and to industrial smoke producing particularly thick conductive deposits, areas very close to the coast and exposed to sea-spray or to very strong and polluting winds from the sea and desert areas characterized by no rain for long periods, exposed to strong winds carrying sand and salt, and subjected to regular condensation. Hence attempt has been made to design the insulators for a specific creepage distance of 31mm/kV.

Sheath thickness

We have designed a sheath thickness of 3mm so as to get long time with stand ability of the sheath towards the pollution thus leading for a longer span of life of the silicon rubber insulator. Considering the major advantage and cost saving from our Polymer Insulators, we hope you will consider our proven quality of insulators manufactured by adaption of advanced technology to be used and having all the required in house testing facilities available for better quality products.
